Jonah's Prayer from the Fish's Belly and Deliverance

2
Chapter 2
1 And the LORD appointed a great fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. 2 And Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from the belly of the fish. 3 And he said, "I called out from my distress to the LORD, and he answered me from the belly of Sheol; you heard my cry, my voice." 4 You threw me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the current surrounded me. All your breakers and waves passed over me. 5 And I said, "I have been driven away from before your eyes; yet I will continue to gaze toward your holy temple." 6 Waters surrounded me up to my soul; the deep encircled me; weeds bound to my head. 7 I descended to the cuts of the mountains; the earth, her bars, forever for me, and she brought up my life from the pit—the LORD my God. 8 In my soul's being wrapped around me, I remembered the LORD, and my prayer came to you, to your holy Temple. 9 Those who cling to worthless idols abandon their loyal love. 10 And I, with a voice of thanksgiving, will sacrifice to you—what I have vowed I will fulfill. Salvation belongs to the LORD.
